Promotion of Mary Bartley, Recreation Director

Mary has been a valued member of Ellington’s Recreation Department since 1992, bringing more than three decades of dedicated service to the community. Throughout her time here, she has served as Recreation Coordinator, Recreation Supervisor, Waterfront Director, and Assistant Director. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education as well as a Master of Science in Health Education.

Her extensive experience, institutional knowledge, and longstanding commitment to the Town make her exceptionally well-suited for this leadership role.

"I’m delighted to have Mary as our Director of Recreation,” said First Selectman Burstein. “We are incredibly fortunate as a town to have her extensive experience, passion, and commitment to serving our community. ”

“As Recreation Director, my goal is to create inclusive, engaging, and accessible programs that strengthen community connections, promote healthy lifestyles, and enhance the quality of life for residents of all ages,” Mary shared. “Recreation is more than activities; it is about building a vibrant community where everyone feels welcome and involved.”

“We are so proud of all the opportunities and experiences our Recreation Department provides for the community,” added Mr. Reed. “Mary’s promotion into this role will benefit all of Ellington.”

Please join us in celebrating Mary’s continued service as a valued member of the Town of Ellington team; she may be contacted at (860) 870-3118 or via email at MBartley@ellington-ct.gov.
