Yes - 329; No - 232
The 561 total votes represented 5.12% of eligible voters. The 2022-23 mill rate was set at 32.5 mills (32.46 for motor vehicles).
The Annual Town Budget Meeting was held on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at the Ellington High School Auditorium and this meeting was adjourned to Referendum, held at the Ellington Senior Center on May 24, 2022.
At its regular meeting held on Monday, April 11, the Board of Selectmen made a motion which included the following:
"To adjourn the Annual Town Budget Meeting to a Referendum to be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with one question: Shall the Town of Ellington appropriate, as recommended and as allocated by the Board of Finance, the total sum for all expenditures, a/k/a budget grand total for the fiscal year 2022-2023, $65,282,433?"
