Employee Spotlight - Kristen Harp

"Having grown up in Ellington, my connection to this community started early through school and local programming that helped shape who I am today. Those experiences ultimately inspired my path and led me back to serve the same community that invested so much in me.

One of the most meaningful parts of my work is creating opportunities for youth to feel connected, supported, and empowered. I’m especially passionate about providing high school students with the same kind of positive first job experience that I was fortunate to have—it’s something that can truly shape confidence, work ethic, and future direction.

A lesson I’ve learned throughout my career is that small, consistent efforts can have a lasting impact. Whether it’s a single conversation, a first job, or a safe place to belong, those moments matter more than we often realize.

A major focus of my work is collaboration - partnering with town departments, schools, and community organizations to weave prevention and support into all of our programs and events. Over time, I've seen how impactful it can be when a community comes together with a shared goal of supporting its youth.

I'm proud to continue giving back to the community that helped shape me and to play a role in creating those same opportunities for the next generation."

Kristen has worn so many hats over the years, and her positive attitude and generous spirit makes her an incredible asset to our team!

Thank you for all you do for Ellington 🩵

Kristen Harp

March may be over, but we're not quite done with our Women's History spotlights! Up next is our Ellington Youth Services Director Kristen Harp, who began working for the Town in the summer of 2003. She has had the opportunity to grow across multiple departments and roles over the years. She began her career in education and later moved into youth services to better support the Ellington community by building on positive programming, emphasizing social-emotional learning, and promoting mental health and prevention in a space where young people, and their families, feel supported and can thrive.

Carolina Feliz

We continue our Women's History Month celebration with a spotlight on Carolina Feliz, Tax & Revenue Collector, who joined the Ellington team in December 2024.
