Changes to Brush Dump, Bulky Waste, and Household Hazardous Waste Operations

Effective July 1, 2024, all residents will need to purchase a punch card ($100 for 10 punches, $20 for 1 punch) to use the Brush Dump. Each load costs one punch; trailers cost an additional punch unless the vehicle is empty. Accepted payments are cash or check onlyProof of residency is required. You can purchase punch cards at the Public Works Office, 21 Main Street beginning July 1. Punch cards will be valid per household and will not expire.

Accepted items include brush, leaves (loose or paper bagged), and Christmas trees. Please note that DPW will have a designated spot at the Recycling Center for residents to drop off their Christmas trees, at no cost.

Construction and demolition debris, stumps, and pressure-treated lumber are not accepted.

Punch cards are not required for residents to pick up dirt/wood chips.

Effective July 1, 2024, residents will need to pay for the following bulky waste items:

Mattresses - $30 each
Box Springs - $30 each
Car Tires - $20 each
Truck Tires - $35 each

These fees must be paid directly to the bulky waste hauler.

Call 860-289-7850 four days in advance of your regular pick-up day to schedule.

Ellington has joined the Capitol Region East Operating Committee (CREOC); HHW collection events are in Manchester. Willington’s collections are no longer available for our residents.

Collections will be held monthly.

  • Commercial Smoke Detectors
  • Propane Tanks
  • Unknown Materials
