How to Serve

Appointments to Town Boards, Committees, and Commissions are made by the Board of Selectmen (BOS), pursuant to the recommendation of the BOS Personnel Committee and/or applicable Department Head. 

The town charter sets forth the boards, committees and commissions appointed by the BOS.  Additionally, the BOS will form Ad Hoc (temporary) committees from time to time to address specific issues of importance.

After each month's regular BOS meeting, a press release is issued announcing the appointments that were made and notifying the public of any current vacancies.

Ellington residents interested in serving must complete and submit a Statement of Interest form, via online submission or email/mail, to the First Selectman's Office in order to be considered for appointment to any vacancy.

Below is a list of current boards, commissions, and committees.  All are appointed by the BOS unless otherwise noted.  Vacancies in elected positions may also be filled by appointed by the BOS.
