DPH Issues New Weekly COVID-19 Alert System with Guidance for Municipal Response

The Town of Vernon is offering free COVID-19 testing at Rockville High School on Sunday, November 22nd. This testing will be held from 1:00 - 4:00 pm and will run similarly to the November 1 testing held at Ellington High School. Please read their full press release for more information.

As of the November 12 report from the State, Ellington has been designated as an orange alert zone. We encourage individuals to follow the CT Department of Health's response framework found here; guidance includes avoiding larger events, limiting time with non-family members, limiting group sizes, and postponing indoor activities where mask wearing or social distancing cannot be maintained.

In addition to this guidance, the Governor is rolling municipalities back to Phase 2.1 of Reopening; more information on those guidelines can be found here.

The Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) has launched a weekly, color-coded COVID-19 alert system for every city and town in the state, showing the average daily case rate per 100,000 population for the last two weeks.  The new weekly alert level is also accompanied by municipal-level guidance on recommended actions for individual residents, institutions such as schools, houses of worship and community organizations,  plus municipal leaders and local health directors.
