Budget season is in full swing! Departments, Boards & Commissions, and Town Agencies have all approved and presented their proposed departmental budgets to the Board of Finance.
A public hearing was held on April 11th (7:00 pm, Ellington High School Auditorium) where interested citizens were able to comment on and ask questions on details of the proposed budget. The Board of Finance then had the opportunity to go through each line item and make changes at their Budget Deliberations meetings on April 13th and 19th. Finally, the Annual Town Budget Meeting (7:00 pm, Ellington High School Auditorium) took place on Tuesday, May 9th.
The Annual Town Budget Meeting was adjourned to referendum, to take place on Tuesday, May 23 from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm, to include the following question:
SHALL THE TOWN OF ELLINGTON APPROPRIATE, AS RECOMMENDED AND AS ALLOCATED BY THE BOARD OF FINANCE, THE TOTAL SUM FOR ALL EXPENDITURES, A/K/A BUDGET GRANT TOTAL FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2023-2024, 68,255,699?
