Employee Spotlight - Lisa Houlihan
Why she joined Ellington:
“After five years working in land use for another municipality, I sought a more challenging position and discovered an opening in Ellington. During a visit to learn more about the Town, I noticed the auditorium was named after Gordon C. Getchell. Though not related, we share a last name, which felt like a small but meaningful sign to apply. I’m so glad I did, because shortly after starting, I quickly realized that one of Ellington’s greatest assets is its people.”
What’s kept her here:
“I have truly enjoyed cultivating strong relationships with residents, town officials, co-workers, and the business community. Working in land use allows me to guide residents and applicants through complex processes. The work is meaningful, and the connection to the community is rewarding year after year.”
Biggest changes she’s seen:
“Over the past two decades, residential and commercial growth in Ellington has remained steady. While it can be difficult to see vacant private properties develop, I’m fortunate to work in a community that supports policies that thoughtfully manage growth, support preservation, and foster an attractive, well-designed built environment.”
We thank Lisa for her years of service and the lasting impact she continues to make in our community. Thank you for all you do for Ellington 💙
