Due to confidentiality and other circumstances, we cannot accept volunteers at this time.  We encourage you to contact Youth Services, the Senior Center, Parks and Recreation, the Library, Police, etc. to inquire about their volunteer opportunities.

No, we do not take gently used clothing or furniture.  Please contact 211 for locations that are taking donations.

We DO accept donations of non-perishable, unexpired food for our Food Pantry*, as well as, take monetary donations to support our programs and services.  We also accept gift cards to local grocery and department stores.

Our office is located at 31 Arbor Way. We are between Arbor Park and the Ellington Center Fire Department.  We are right next to the Ellington State Troopers Office.   Also in our building is Youth Services and Parks and Recreation.

If you have a complaint or compliment, we want to hear about it! Contact us and let us assist you in a resolution, or for us to share your gracious words. If you are not to able to settle an issue with us, please feel free to contact the First Selectman's office at 860-870-3100.

Most appointments require the following basic information: proof of residency, proof of income for the household for the last four weeks, recent bank statements and a recent electric bill.  This list is not exhaustive and we reserve the right to ask for additional information.   If applying for a particular program, please contact us for exact documentation requirements.

Our budget is funded through the Town of Ellington and is voted in on a yearly basis by the tax payers of the town.  Some programs are also grant-funded.  We also accept donations of non-perishable, unexpired food, as well as, monetary donations (check or money order).  

The Human Services Department is overseen by the Human Services Director, who reports to the First Selectman.
