Housing Authority
The Ellington Housing Authority was created by resolution of the Ellington Board of Selectmen on June 15, 1967, pursuant to Conn. Gen. Stat. Sec. 8-38. The Authority is primarily responsible for the management of the Snipsic Village housing facility located at 20 Main St., Ellington. The Housing Authority contracts with a private management company to manage the day to day maintenance and affairs of the housing complex.
Commissioners are appointed to the Housing Authority by the Board of Selectmen. However, the Board of Selectmen has no authority over the operations of the Housing Authority. The Housing Authority is a distinct legal entity. The power of the Housing Authority is set forth in Conn. Gen. Stat. Sec. 8-44.
