Snipsic Village
Ellington Housing Authority (EHA), an agency of the Town created by the Board of Selectmen in 1967, is responsible for management of Snipsic Village. Snipsic Village is a 42-unit state-financed elderly housing facility located at 20 Main Street. In 1968, 30 units in 5 buildings, with 6 apartments each were constructed and occupied. Attached to one of the buildings is a Community building and office. In 1980, an additional 12 units in 3 buildings with 4 apartments each were opened. The Community Building and offices were enlarged in 2005.
Daily Operations
Daily operations of the Ellington Housing Authority are now being managed by Millennium Real Estate Services, LLC. Some of these day-to-day tasks include:
- Maintaining apartments and grounds
- Handling rentals and rent collection
- Keeping financial records
- Preparing and overseeing the budget
- Assisting residents with matters pertaining to health insurance needs, energy assistance and renter's rebate
Applications for Snipsic Village
Persons interested in applying for an apartment must meet eligibility requirements including either being over the age of 62 or certified handicapped/disabled. If eligible, applicants must submit an application to be added to the waiting list. Applications are ranked by date received and other factors pertaining to degree of need. Current residents of the Town of Ellington are afforded some preference.
