Q.  What are the office hours of Ellington Human Services?

A.  Office hours are: Monday  8:30 am to 6:00 pm,
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday  8:30 am to 4:00 pm
Friday 8:30 am to 1:30 pm
We request that you call to schedule an appointment before coming to the office if at all possible to ensure that staff is best able to serve your needs.


Q.  How can I contact Human Services staff?

A.  You can contact our office during our normal business hours at (860) 870-3128 and staff will assist you with your questions. You may also leave a message during non- business hours and someone will return your call as soon as possible. Our fax number is: (860) 870-3198. Q.  How can I reach Youth Services?

Q.  What programs do you offer for town residents?

A.  Please refer to our Programs page.

Q.  Do you have a Food Bank?

A.  We have a non-perishable food bank located here within our office building. It can be accessed as necessary for emergency needs. We currently are able to offer residents in need a bi-monthly distribution upon request. Please call our office for specific distribution dates.

Q.  Do you accept donations?

A.  We accept donations for non perishable foods as well as monetary gifts. All monies received are utilized to purchase perishable food vouchers, misc. fuel and family necessities as requested. We do occasionally accept clothing and large items if we know of prior needs for these items, otherwise we can only refer you to other agencies. During the holidays, we seek out donations of specific items for families in our adopt a family programs. Please call us for information starting in October.

Q.  Can I volunteer?

A.  We LOVE volunteers! There are always little jobs available for a person who may have a few hours of time to help out. Give us a call!

Q.  How do I locate your offices?
A.  Our office is located at: 31 Arbor Way, Ellington. We are located between Arbor Park and the Ellington Center Fire Department.

Q. Who do I contact if I have a complaint/problem/compliment?

A.  If you have a complaint or compliment; we want to hear about it! Contact us and let us assist you in a resolution. If you are not to able to settle an issue with us, please feel free to contact the first selectman's office for further assistance.

Q.  What do I need to bring with me for an appointment?

A.  Most appointments require the following basic information: Photo ID, Proof of residency, income verification, vehicle registration, bank statements, and social security numbers for all living within the household.


Q.  What is the source of Human Services' funding?

A.  Our budget is funded through the Town of Ellington and is voted in on a yearly basis by the tax payers of the town. Some programs are grant funded.

Q.  Who oversees the Human Services Department?
 
A.  The Human Services Department is overseen by the Board of Selectman and the Human Services Commission. The Human Services Commission is comprised of nine town residents who are committed to making sure that the Human Services Department services residents in the Town of Ellington in the very best possible way.
