Plan of Conservation & Development Update
Following several monthly meetings, three public information sessions, a formal community survey and comments from various commissions and departments, the Planning and Zoning Commission (PZC or Commission) endorsed updates to the Ellington Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD or Plan).
The Plan has been referred to the Ellington Board of Selectmen and Capitol Region Council of Governments for review and comment. The PZC set a public hearing to potentially adopt the proposed POCD updates on October 28, 2019. A link to an electronic copy of the proposed Plan is provided below.
Hard copies of proposed Plan are available to view at the Town Planner’s Office (57 Main Street), and the Ellington Town Clerk's Office (55 Main Street) as of July 24, 2019.
If interested in submitting written comments about the proposed Plan for consideration by the Commission, please submit them to the Planning Department by October 25, 2019.

PLAN OF CONSERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT
COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW AND UPDATE PROJECT 2018
Local efforts are underway to update Ellington’s Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD/Plan). The Plan is a long-range document that guides land use, development patterns, preservation strategies, and capital investments for infrastructure and community facilities for the next decade. The update process analyzes where we are today, where we want to be in the future, and identifies strategies for realizing Plan recommendations.
The Ellington Planning Department, the Plan Update Committee and East Hartford-based consultant Goman & York is overseeing the project. The Plan Update Committee consists of nine resident volunteers representing the Planning and Zoning Commission, Economic Development Commission, Conservation Commission, Inland Wetlands Agency, Water Pollution Control Authority and Park and Recreation Commission. Meetings of the Plan Update Committee are generally held on the first Thursday of each month at 7PM in the Town Hall Annex, unless otherwise scheduled. Recommendations from local boards, commissions, administration and citizens will formulate Plan updates. There are various was to be involved. Please attend a Plan Update Committee meeting or send written comments to the Town Planner.
